Anyone know where to get a reproduction Vin Tag?

Should be a crime for an individual to possess the ways and means to produce a VIN tag or any reproduction of any part with a VIN on it.

That's a can of worms I wouldn't touch. Why shouldn't it them be a crime to possess the ways and means to do anything illegal? Bad premise.

I went the legal route and totally get why most don't, what a pain in the ***!

Doesn't a state issued VIN destroy any value of a factory performance car?

The OP owns the car and has proof of the VIN.

GET THE IBM CARD

I imagine it would add a significant decrease in the value, in my case mine is an SE 318 low option Charger.. already the least valuable and I'll never sell it anyways. That's where a properly made VIN would be nice vs a state issued one, mine looks nothing like the factory. Is it illegal.. yes but you also have to look at why it's illegal, to keep people from retagging stolen property, misleading people into believing it's something it's not, etc whereas there's reasons in restorations for them to need replaced or temporarily removed for dash repairs so.....

lol.....of course...because you already have it registered and titled then you're going behind the scenes to get a "fake" made......The law is broken once you attach the fake to the car........Hence, is why the honest way is to contact the state police and get a legal one made. Then have it attached by a trooper....

Really, I am not busting your chops. I just don't want one to think this is legit...its not....

However, we do have record of this in this thread............

So what are you saying? You going to report me? To who? LOL

I just got off the phone with NJDMV and spoke with multiple people from the special titling dept (including the Dept supervisor) and explained my situation. I explained that there was a company that re pops vin tags and that I had all the paperwork to match what was being made and their answer was to go ahead and affix the correct plate back to the car and that if I already own the car and have the title with the matching VIN that this is perfectly legal to do...There is no crime here. That is straight from the DMV's Mouth.

I wouldn’t even care to report you....stating the obvious that’s all...

Again....tampering....I don’t rely on phone calls to clerks....

I guess anyone can own a legit Hemi anything as long as they have paperwork...legit or not...lol

I get your purpose and it’s not to defraud but that is not what others do....

Seems no one cares but you. Arguably not even my local DMV! That's all I'm saying.

I care because of the POS scammers out there.......These services should not be available and should be shut down......

Btw it’s not just me.....many do....

Hope you never get pulled over in any state but Jersey. Could cost you some jail time and good by car. Guess Jersey has no regards for federal law. You say you will never sell it. Does that mean it will some day be parted or sold for scrap?

Do Trooper have rivet guns also? :poke:

..........:thankyou:...at least someone else understands the legalities...

Reciprocity. one state honors the laws of another. if its legal in his state, others will abide.

Cops have units that will verify your title/registration and then proceed to attach a new Vin with 2 big ugly rivets to your A post, all for free! lucky for you its in the door jam.

F*** the state, F*** the dmv, F*** goody 2 shoes. Just don't be a scamming POS.

OH is notoriously strict on anything motor vehicle related.
