a cure for Cancer ?

Three people can keep a secret ... if two of them are dead.
 
this would be real nice for my wife and all that suffer this disease ,but big business wont let it happen unfortunately :(
 
When I was young, diabetes was a sugar number over 250, and a few people had it. Now, it's anything over 140, and it seems everyone is diabetic ( or "pre-diabetic", whatever the f~《k that is), so now anyone is on meds.
When I was young, high blood pressure was 250/ whatever, and a few people had it. Now high blood pressure is 140/ whatever and everybody has it, and everyone is on meds.
The goal is to make normal into sick, and give (oops, sell) you something for it. For the rest of your life.
 
Not any more. Glucose readings over 90...yes, 90 are considered diabetic. I don't function well when my glucose gets to 90. The docs used to go off when it would be 140. I told them I can't function when it gets much below 120 so they said it was okay.
I found I was diabetic when the room spun and I drooled like a hungry dog looking at a steak and my sugar was at 600. Now that's high.

Agreed. I had a friend who passed out at our church volleyball game. He was diagnosed as diabetic when his sugar came back a 700 something. He had no clue he was diabetic.
On the other hand, my mom functioned ( understatement, she could out-work anyone I knew, including me) wonderfully at 220-250. When in the hospital for something unrelated, they tried to drive her sugar down to under a hundred, ended up at 25 and in a coma.
My point is that everyone is different, setting a hard and fast number arbitrarily is wrong, and moving that number to include every one is fraud.
 
Don't think the number is above 90. Just had blood work 1-03-19 and it said that normal was from 65 to 99. Mine was 94.
 
I just hope sooner or later someone gets it right. If the cure was out there, trust me, I would have tracked it down and paid for it during the 5 years we chased Jen from facility to facility. No parent should have to go through this with their kids. The only good that came out of it all was I finally learned with patience was, as can be seen in my car restoration.

You prove the point. Used to be 120-140 was normal. Then it moved to 90-120. Now its 60 to 90.
Do you realize how close 60 is to be going into a diabetic coma?
They move the numbers in order to prescribe more meds.
 
Actually, they just raised the acceptable glucose levels for diabetics.

140 is now considered "not terrible".

I've not heard anything about lowering.

I've always been told by doctors that 80-120 is normal, or as I call it "human".

I've had a few friends whom I suspected might be diabetic and a quick check with my meter always shows them to be 120 or lower. NEVER seen a non-diabetic over 120, which seems odd considering what you would think might be variances in physiology.

I personally function best within the 80-120 range or slightly higher.

Over about 200 I feel very tired don't want to get up, even to get my insulin pen.

Under 70 and I become somewhat unable to make complex decisions.
 
IMHO the cure has been there and BIG pharm bought the people that found it!:soapbox:
Israel does NOT have to listen to another country and their big pharm attempts to buy their mouth shut! They can make a **** ton of $$$$ and charge a reasonable price and save millions of lives!

They have to listen to the FDA if they want to market their cure here.

The numbers have been moving lower since I was diagnosed. And officially 140 is considered high. My doc says its not bad.
We had the discussion about the numbers moving and he said there was a push to do so. He said he didn't actually KNOW why (CYA) and suspected it was to make more people diabetics.
Funny...I went in wearing my "Legalize Shemp" t shirt (its my bowling shirt, our team is the Stooges-nyuk nyuk) with a pic of a Rasta Shemp and the doc looked at it and said, "I could go along with that".
 
I finally read the whole article & it looks like personalized, gene-spliced, targeted, triple "gene therapy". It's an interesting idea if it really works.

I see that it will be incredibly expensive....maybe $1/2-million per person, so it would only help the rich. I think there's enough profit there that it will be released IF it passes all the trials and appears to work.

The real KEY to this (if it works) will be to develop a machine/system to very rapidly & cheaply get everyone's individual "cancer genes" tested AND another system to rapidly & cheaply make copies of the right "peptide chains" (cancer gene killers). We're reasonably well developed on the 2nd part, but screening everyone's cancer genes fast/cheap will be tough.
 
And if it can be done cheaply we know govt will do all it can to make it expensive.

Greetings mechanic! The word CURE is a four letter word to the American Medical Association and its medical members! As you amply put it, there is money in treatments. There is no profit in cure.

Case in point, Henry Kissenger paid Litton Industries $10 million in 1969 for Litton's development of AIDS as a germ warfare agent. Kissenger gave the Litton Industries AIDS discovery vials to the NCI for testing worldwide. The NCI administered vaccines laced with AIDS viruses at their Africa, NYC and San Francisco locations. What sparks/starts cancer, what makes cancer grow and the cure of cancer has been known for 90+ years or longer. The NCI knows these things but uses all its money, talents and resources to keep this information suppressed from the masses.
 
Having had my spouse dealing with cancer over eight years now, I hope some day they can find a way to detect and cure this dreaded disease in its early stages. Research has made great strides against fighting cancers. There is no doubt whatsoever that cancers that were fatal even just twenty years ago are now being cured or people are living longer with them. My wife is absolute proof of that.
The problem as I see it is cancer often thought in remission comes back later on often with a vengeance.
Many cancers id say that are dected in the early stages such as Stage I can be managed, its when they metastasize.
My thoughts are cancer will never be totally curable but will be managed and deaths related will go drastically down.
The opinion that there is some secret cure being kept under lock and key, a conspiracy is a total falsehood. I understand peoples frustration and suspicions but its just not true.
Thats not to say someone is not out there to profit over somebody else's illness. My particular source of distain is advertisements for chain type cancer hospitals that often feature healthy people( actors) portraying cancer patients and there miraculous recovery.
This is marketing playing on people who are devastated by cancers in either themselves or in loved ones.
My wife and I are very lucky to be going to one of the worlds top cancer hospitals and being attended to by dedicated medical professionals who make it there lives work to combat this terrible disease.
