Low deck 512 ready to go to the dyno

I just designed those low mount brackets for this engine. I'll get more of them made and start selling them. I like the low mount design myself but it only works with EFI engines or an electric fuel pump.

Any idea when they will be available or what the price will be?

I have low mount 90A kits available now but they aren't on the website yet. The low mount 60A kits won't be available for a few weeks. I should have everything on the website by the end of Feb. If you want a low mount 90A kit now then shoot me a PM.
 
Aside from bearing selection, is there truly any advantage going to an RB main bore?

I have always thought that a smaller diameter main journal will have less friction than a larger one. It may not even be measurable, but just one of the many reasons to build a low deck stroker motor.

Bearing selection, crankshaft availability and crankshaft strength. It used to be difficult to find a good low deck crank but there are more choices today. I wouldn't recommend boring a 400 block to 440 mains for most applications but we did it on this one. On the other hand, if I ever decided to start casting my own blocks I wouldn't bother with the smaller main size, I'd use the RB main bore in both the B and RB blocks.
 
Isn’t slower bearing speed better?

Sure there's going to be more SFM with a larger journal. Imo, it does spread the load over a larger surface area but can the drag even be measured?

Well a smaller bearing is going to have less speed at any given RPM. That equals less turning resistance, right? Prob can't even measure the difference, since its turning on a film of oil. Smaller Also equals less strength, and load carrying ability. Andy prefers the larger main bearing at the power levels he gets. I suppose the smaller 400 size main journals can easily handle 600 or 700 horsepower. When you get up to the power levels on some motors, the larger main journals are needed.

Sure, those are just my thoughts on it. I don't really know the exact reasons why anyone does things a certain way. But I am in favor of "Build it as strong as you can, within reason." LOL

Where can I get those nice low mount alternator brackets?
I made/modified a low mount alt bracket myself from some left over parts. Works Great! Easier to see the timing marks, and gets it off the top.
