I have a 1970 Sport Satellite with a 8 1/4 rear end. How difficult would it be to put in an 8 3/4 rear end? I found a complete one out of a 71 Challenger. Can someone steer me in the right direction please...

If the housing is 55 inches flange to flange it will fit your b body. Spring perches should be around 44 inches

The Challenger rear end is 56.5" from flange to flange and according to the chart i have it shows the 70 8 1/4" flange to flange measurement being 57.8" . Now a 70 with an original 8 3/4" installed from the factory was 55.0" from flange to flange. I guess my question would be will the difference in the flange measurements create a problem. The there's the leaf spring mount difference. The 70 has a 47.3" center to center and the 71 has a measurement of 46.0". With the leaf spring mount i should be able to just move the, correct?

Also keep in mind that the 70 measurements are based on the 8 1/4" that's in it now.

Actually, you need a 68-70 b-body rear end for a bolt-in swap.

I ask because its FREE and a B Body one is hard to find and expensive.

So no way to make the 71 Challenger rear end work?
Well, I wouldn't say "no way", but it would bee too wide (71 Charger OR 71 Challenger) & spring perches would be in the wrong location......so, maybe add and extra $800 (?) of the one you found and you can make it work (if you can find a top-notch rear end shop that can do the work)
