Call from my painter after he painted my rear bezels W1 - White to match my stripe from PG. Says it's no where near and too yellow to the stripe, so he's back to what we originally where going to do and colour matching to the stripe.

That said he wanted to paint the back Blue and I said no, the stripe gets x cut and just folded back into the trunk and the bezel installed and of course I got "I'd cut the hole out, paint the rear of the bezel Blue so it looks nice in the trunk, not like the line worker that didn't give a ****".

Anyone have a picture of a correct OE bezel install, of the trunk side?

THANKS! Wayne

I've seen examples and you are right, the factory did an X cut and folded them back over. Nice thing about that is it is wrapped around the edge and less likely to get loose around the edges. Don't remember where I saw it though. I will post if I can find it somewhere.

Thanks... need to see something before morning and my trip to the paint shop. Tomorrow is my last "walk around" and last chance for any corrections before final work and I load my car up next week to bring back home.

They did cut an X and filed it inside....they didn’t cut a perfect X either...

I have a pic at home, somewhere....

Oh, I know they cut an X Justin... just wanting a picture if anyone has same to see how ugly it is with a White bezel in a Blue trunk, but I bet with the decal folded in it looks better White than Blue! Just want to convince Mr Painter of that!

I always thought the back side of marker light bezel is just dark gray primer.

Thanks, Why I'm hoping for an "OE" picture before tomorrow AM. Want factual photographic proof of what is correct..

Best of luck on your search:thumbsup:

Thanks, hoping for a picture from someone tonight so I can bring it with me in the AM.

The attached picture is from a 5600 mile survivor. Ignore the gold finish, the entire car was Ziebarted. Further below is another without the Zeibart.

This is another survivor without the Ziebart. The tabs of the stripe have crumbled or tore off over time. It should look like the above stripe cut detail. It was very random, just an X through the opening and folded over.

THANKS!!!! so much, so just Gray primer on the back of the bezel and stripe colour on the outer?

It is actually a greenish color if want to be spot on. The top picture shows it if you look through the hasp. The gray you see is the body gasket peeking through on the edges.

They were never painted on the backside with the exterior color.......The greenish color I found a perfect match for.......

J,

Can you post a picture of the rattle can color you used if that is the case?

Is it even a debate wether or not all rear bezels are stripe color? Were any shipped with body color bezels?

(asking for a friend)

I have never seen one not matched to the stripe but never say never......
