Hi old shocks in back new ones in front on my 70 Soort Sat. Want to lower the front like 4 inches. I have not adjusted the torsion bars before. What kind of travel can I get out of the adjustment on stock bars?

Ron go to MyMopar.com and get the service manual. Set them per the manual and see if that is acceptable. That looks way too high for the stock ride.

I think Jim is correct & that front end looks so high it looks like you don't have an engine in the car (seriously). To answer your question, you can turn those torsion bars so far down that the k-member/frame will be 4" off the ground, so you have PLENTY of travel up/down in your car (a big advantage of torsion bars).

p.s. I dig your car....very nice

I do think that staying within the stock specifications per the factory service manual is a good idea. I "think" I've seen 1" drop spindles for Mopars somewhere (say, if you're building a low-rider or track car)….but I think in your case, just turn the torsion bars down per factory instructions and get a new front end alignment...done.

I have the factory manual on my PC. I was just wondering about the amount of travel. Looks like I cann get what I need and maybe a bit more. Thanks.

Lol it does look like there is no motor in the car lol. Glad you like her she is starting to cost me more money so I better like her as well lol.

Yeah.....having a super-cool, bad-*** Mopar ain't cheap (but well worth it)

When you adjust your bars I suggest you put a floor jack under the K-frame and jack up at least enough to take SOME of the stress off the bars for easier turning of the adjusting bolts, and provide some safety for you in case the bolt strips or the bolt block breaks. I've never had this happen personally but have read that it can. Count the turns for each side, lower car, drive around the block for suspension to settle then repeat if necessary to get the height you're after.

Adjusted the torsion bars to get the front end down. Much better handling but my steering is sloppy ****!
