Is there a certain paint/color that anyone's had good luck with, for touching up TTI's coating? Mine have some scratches and nicks and I'd like to smooth and paint a couple of spots since I have them out at the moment...hoping there's a good color match out there..thanks!

I used a silver color header paint to touch mine up after clearancing for main cap side bolts-Indy aluminum block.

When I touched mine up, I looked on the TTI site and they recommended a Krylon Silver
high heat Grill paint. Not sure of the number, but you can go on their site and probably find it. I believe they also recommended using 0000 steel wool in preparing the area to be painted.

Thanks guys I'll check it out

I have used the VHT silver but it is shiny. I've had my TTI headers 13 years and have had them out of the car a few times. Each time, I've sprayed them completely so there is no issue with color match.

Thanks Greg..yeah, I will probably end up doing that too to keep it uniform. I resprayed my last (black) set a few times.

I believe the krylon number is 1407.

I just googled it and it is high heat silver paint. You can check TTIs website to see what they recommend for touchup.

Lol I just dug out my instructions that came with the TTIs when I bought them, 0000 steel wool or extra fine scotch-brite and krylon 1402. They say it will, or should, blend when heated. Alrighty then!

Curious if you find it, I looked last year and couldn’t buy it anywhere.

You're right, very confusing and doesn't even come up on krylon's website; however they don't seem to have a direct part # search which is lame. What I've found so far locally, in a high-heat aluminum is #16080. So I'm wondering if they've changed numbers and product lines? Who knows...The 16080 says it withstands 600° continuous and up to 1200° intermittently. I haven't used it yet, I will report back after a test..

Cool, thanks!

1402 does come up in searches as "out of stock, or not available" Sounds like 1407 took it's place as that is the only silver high heat Krylon shows on their website.

It'd be interesting to compare the 1407 silver to the 16080 aluminum, color-wise...most of the time that kind of paint all looks close to the same.
