I've seen this subject skimmed a couple of times, but haven't seen a solution. Has anyone been able to install an OEM locking column from another car into a '68? I've heard one from a '70 Charger will bolt in, and the ignition could be moved to the column switch instead of the dash? Is locking steering enough of a theft deterrent to bother? Opinions?

Never tried to do that.

Gotta admit it's something I've never tried. Lets face it if the thief wants it bad enough they'll figure out a way to steal it. I've been using a hidden kill switch for the fuel pump so if they get in the car and get it fired up it won't go very far before that 440 gets thirsty and quits. If that doesn't work there's always Smith & Wesson for security. Up to you if you want to add a locking column, I would think one from a 70 would fit since Ma Mopar didn't change much on those 68 - 70 B bodies as far as the fire wall and floor.

The only thing you need for theft deterrent is a 4 speed.

Any 1970 B-Body column, not just a Charger. The car body has the same dimension
