I think I may have misplaced a couple of the dash screws that attach the heater switch bezel to the instrument cluster.

I think the 64 cars used 5 of these screws total, 3 for shifter bezel, and 2 for heater bezel.

Anyone know if these screw (or almost identical) are being reproduced. Where do I find them? I think most standard oval head screws a larger diameter head than these. I don't think a good hardware store would have them.

I found some stainless screws on ebay that are really similar to what was used. There's a seller that specializes in different trim screws. A lot of screws that are used have a smaller taypered head than the threaded part. So you need to know the screw size and the head size when ordering.

This is the outfit I found on ebay.

Thank you but the screws I'm talking about are a fine thread and are not pointy. I forget the exact thread size of the ones I need but those you linked to are pointed and the sheet metal screw type.

I scrolled through Joe Suchys product list and could not find them.

You need machine screws and that company should have them. Find a screw that works and measure it. Then look them up.

OK I'll look into that, I think the problem I'm having is that most (if not all) oval head machine screws have a head that is larger than the bezel screws I need. Basically it seems these have an especially small head, and that's because they need to fit inside the little countersink's in the bezels.

I have 3 out of 5 total screws so I can measure them to compare

That's correct. That's what makes them harder to find locally. I guess you could call them a specialty item. You might have a #8 screw with a #6 head. If you have a set of calipers you can measure what you need. A set of taps and dies or even a wire crimper that has the different threaded holes to cut off screws, can aid in determining the size of the screw and thread count. Then just order one size smaller for the head.

I haven't looked on this site for hardware but they might carry them. I'm posting it for the different measurement references.

I had extras of those screws, besides others used, on my 64. Problem...rusty under the chrome, plating just falls off.
My fix was to find the same screws, but stainless. The larger diameter head, no problem, since the screws are solid. Each one into a drill motor, used a fine file, and trimmed the edges to size.

If you could post a picture and measurement of the ones you have, I probably have some that you can have. Not sure of the condition, though. I’d look into what Miller is saying, find SS machine screws of the same dimensions and trim the heads, any good hardware store should have them. If I remember right they are 8x32 thread. 10x32?

If all the above fails look at McMaster Carr. You may have to buy a box of 25 but it'll cost as much as the 5 to10 screws these places send you in a nice poly bag. The bonus is you'll have spares to share with the rest of us...

How many do you need? I might have some!
