Exploding Demons

why was the orange car rolling back and forth at the line?

The dark colored car has over 1000 HP. The orange cars problem was caused by the driver not loading the drive train.

Spot on!!!

The car rolled backwards so all the lash was present in the ring/pinion. Maybe even axle spline slop too. An .008-.012 gap may not seem like a lot, at least not until you smack with 600 pounds of TQ multiplied through the driveline!

Here’s the cure

That’s is a serious chunk of change. I bet you could do a solid axle conversion for less.

Less maybe, but not much less once you factor in housing, center section, SFI axles, brakes, and all the fab work it would take to do it. The package above would be way less work.

Could be a push by the time it’s all done. Don’t the dragpaks come with a solid axle?

I think they do but the only one I’ve seen was Larry Griffiths and that was when it was new so it’s been years lol. I haven’t had my wife’s hellcat on the lift yet, so I don’t know how it differs from the drag pak, but from what I’ve read, it’s major work to go solid.

The IRS is a complete cradle assembly. To install a solid rear axle, you’d have to weld in four link mounts in a unibody not designed for it. Not a problem if you add a cage and tie it to the mounts. It could be done cheaper if you have the skills and put zero dollar value to your time.

There's that damn domino effect again...:BangHead:

I'm just shocked that the CV joints aren't the weakest link. Would have thought they would explode before the pinion.

a little from what I had read on one of the SRT sites/forums
the 2015 & latter ind. rear diff, in the SRT Hellcats (Demon too ?)
SRT's Challengers, Chargers, 300's is a 9.30" 230mm ring gear
aluminum for a lighter carrier,
an extra 4th tab to control hop better for solid mounting
