Anyone Transplant a 340 into Their 68-70 Runner/Charger?

Published shipping weights are utter fantasyland. Most small block a body's weigh around 3400, big block b body's around 3800 up. A small block won't be more than 150 lighter. My best friends 70 340 challenger weighs 3600 plus, my manual brakes, manual steering, no air , bench seat 69 runner weighed almost exactly 3700 , stone stock on a racetrack certified scale. (Big block, 727).
Most people who read shipping weights, then weigh their car are seriously disappointed.
My point exactly 33 IMP if you compared an A-body to a small block B-body its not a huge difference so putting a hot 340 in a B-body is not a big deal weight wise. Remember the original question here was would it be difficult and worth it. And I say for me hell yeah. I had a 318 with a 904. So it dropped right in. I am not saying its gonna run 10’s but it is gonna be fun! It is gonna sound great and it is gonna be cool!

If you are happy, GREAT!
My point was that both a' s and b's are heavier than some think, and torque moves heavy. I think there is usually 350-400 lbs difference between an a or a b.
Engine masters a few years ago did a rivalry match between a Chevy 383 and a identically prepared 383 mopar (think of the Chevy as a stroked 340 with really good heads). Horsepower was a wash, but the big block killed the Chevy in mid range torque, and midrange torque is what makes a pleasant responsive street car.

I always go big block but that's just me also my 69 road runner weighted 3450 when I had it weighted with a half tank of gas

My last restoration was a 496 stuffed into a 71 Vette. I am happy to have roon in the engine bay lol.
