Khryslerkid, great thread. I especially like the info on the chrome and aluminum repair/polishing. One question though, with removing the top coating on the pieces when sanding & polishing, is there any need to re-coat them with clear to protect finish?

The stainless steel requires nothing to protect it except maybe useing some good wax.

The aluminium has a anodized finish on it. If you sand or polish it aggressively it can be removed and won't be as shiny. You can see in this picture where I repaired a dent and I removed some of the anodize when I sanded the area. The way they normally repair this is they remove all of the anodize and then recoat it with new.

These grilles have an anabrite type finish from the factory. 5.7HEMI ,,,,Zack removed that finish,sanded them smooth and polished the aluminum to a chrome finish.He also took a few dings out of the headlight bezels,polished them and repainted the black paint.:lowdown::lowdown::lowdown::lowdown:

The wipers almost match the factory one for the exception of the blade end. That's a good price for a pair of them.

The trunion is a complete set. My original one showed hardly any wear at all. I only had to clean it, replenish with new grease and install a new boot. That would be a good kit for one that was totally worn out. You wonder where they keep finding these NOS parts.

I was at my Dodge dealer 10 years ago and they had done a complete inventory 3 months before. Anything without a part number arg went into the dumpster. If I knew I'd gone daily to collect their "garbage". They were a old dealership. A few years before the one of parts guys found a NOS round hemi air lid in their attic storage, got it for $150.
 
Useing a dual point Mallory distributor, the main issue has always been the longevity of the condenser. They don't always last long. The Mallory brand condenser can last five years or five minutes. Apparently there is a large, bad batch of these out there. There are countless threads on these condensers from the Mallory not holding up. Finding a comparable one wasn't that easy. The long lead used on the Mallory is mainly the problem.

So doing some extensive searching again, I found that a 1964 Corvette, 327 condenser was used years back for a replacement. Well that's a hard item to come up with as well. They used a superseded #D204. That's become a hard one to find also but it is once again superseded by a Echlin RR175. Found two of them at my local NAPA.

The lead is just under a 1/4" shorter but still makes it to the terminal. It has a nice heavy guage lead. (The brass one is the Mallory)

Installed the new one yesterday after my last Mallory failed. (600 miles) Fired right up, took her for a drive and all is well. Time will tell.

No I'm not giving up on the dual point distributor so no "Negative Nancy" comments!
 
Yes the new condensers suck big time I always use old stuff. Getting hard to find also.
