Why lump the 71-74's together?

Oh my god this again? Seriously? Can I mute a thread so I never see it again?

My mistake, you can only ignore posters. I thought you could ignore a forum, just like you can watch a forum. Oh well, unwatch thread works, now that you posted in it.

I dont get notifications. I am just tired of seeing something that for all intents is purposes isn't going to change

For the win-

They are 71-74.

It's already done!

They were all the bottle body design. I believe called 3rd generation? It's not a B-body site category. But Chrysler.

just an opinion, not a critic.... the rallye strip looks weird being that thick

I have always thought that the rallye stripes should have followed the body contours mor than it did on 73-74 Chargers. I never liked the way the pinstripe stopped at the front wheel wells, but continued over the rear wheel wells, so I did my own rendition where the pinstripes continue over the wheel wells on all four wheels, much like a 70 Challenger side stripe did,and flared it a bit to go with the flow of the car. I also got rid of the generic side marker lights and replaced them with 68 Charger side marker lights.

They should have continued hidden headlights through the life of the body stile IMO.

Hidden headlamps were outlawed (not sure of the year), supposedly to give pedestrians who were run over a little more protection.

They still had them on Thunderbirds until atleast 1977. They were a defining feature on Chargers since 1966,they should have kept them through until 74.

Also on lincoln town cars until the mid 1980's.

Not to mention mazdas and porsche's, Ferrari's and fiero's

well into the 1990's and possibly even current.

We all have our own opinions. With that being said I like the 73/74 grilles much better than a hidden light set-up. The only 3rd gen Charger that I like hidden headlights on is a 1972 because the 72 standard grilles are not appealing to me. The 71 standard grilles are the best of any 3rd gen headlight set-up IMO.

I also do not like go wings on any 3rd gen. They look out of place and don't blend in with the body style. I know I am a small % that doesn't like Go Wings and I can live with that lol.

Chargervert your car is sweet none-the-less. I like the 68 side marker but I would keep the stock lights if it were mine.

2002 Pontiac Firebird still had hidden headlights, Corvette up to 2004. 2018 Ares Panther still has them... I think it was just a styling choice for eliminating them.

It is a matter of preference, but personally the hidden headlights were standard on all Chargers until 1971. I always thought they were a defining feature of the cars image. I never cared for the 73/74 side marker lights, the grilles or taillights, those rediculous bumper guards, and the bumpers being moved out from the body with those filler pieces. So I fixed the things that I didn't care for on mine. I also like this bodystyle with the fattest tires that can be fitted under them. That's just my preference.
