Hello all,

Its been a few years since I posted as this forum was helpful when I purchased my Coronet RT in late 2014 and dealing with some leaking and other issues I had at the time.

in 2015, I did replace the trunk weatherstripping with what seemed like an exact fit (never leaked being outside for years...I can't find the receipt after 4 different moves), but I never got the door seals (though they were fine). I also had both front and rear glass done and there was a small place that sold the gaskets/trim clips.

However, the car is finally at a local shop and is almost completely down to metal for bodywork and paint and I was reminded that new weatherstripping is needed.

Any info or leads (or other years that I can "make work" would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Myke

I didn't do my trunk, but replaced all of my door and window weatherstripping and the felt window liners (cat whiskers). I purchased everything from Classic Industries. I don't know who makes it, but everything lined up and fit like factory replacements. The rear window felt strips are the hardest because they're either spot welded or riveted in place (can't remember which). You have to drill them out. I used very small screws to reinstall them and it worked great.

I've always had great service from Classic Ind. I've heard different from others, but I think they are a great company to deal with. I'm sure they buy them from someone else who actually makes them and I'm sure there are other fine companies to purchase from as well. If you do buy from them, make sure you use the discount... they always have some kind of discount going on if you buy a certain amount. I've gotten some good deals that way.

Godd luck!

My suggestion is to see if you can find a good set of used door and roof rail seals. The OEM parts fit so much better than the reproduction door and roof rail seals and this is coming from someone actually involved with the manufacturing and retailing of various weatherstripping components. If your unable to find good used, you basically have four different manufactures of the two components. The most popular is the Metro brand, followed by Steele, then Soff Seal and Clester's.

All of the door seals are fairly equivalent in fit and function. For the roof rail seals, we recommend the Steele brand. The issue that most people do not like about the Steele seals are that the roof rail seals will typically cost you 250% more than the other three brands. The issue is in getting the glass once fully rolled up to seat properly eliminating water and wind entering the car.

No matter which brand that you should decide to use, you may have to do some tweaking to the door and glass alignment to insure a good fit. The other issue is that most shops will only carry one brand of weatherstripping. Search out a vendor that gives you different options and always get a confirmation of what you are purchasing. There can be a significant price difference between the four different brands at the retail and wholesale level.

I have done several orders through Detroit Muscle in Warren Michigan. Been very pleased with the fit and quality they offer AND they are nice people. Two years ago I bought the door seals for my Coronet from them and ended up ordering for a post car, not the hardtop, which is what I have. When I tried to test fit them about a month ago (almost two years after purchase)I realized my mistake. I called last week, explained MY error and they sent me the right ones, no questions. I returned the ones I had and will be putting them on soon. Great people to deal with and quality stuff that fits! Not the cheapest on the market but you get what you pay for, right. Good luck with your search......
