Is there anyone who didn't have a least one Hot Wheels car?

Had match box Cars too..... Was seventeen when Hot Wheels came out and thought that they looked a bit Goofy.

I was a black wall 80's kid. Two of my favorites:

.

I probably have a mix (lots of Mopars) from the late late 80's early 90's on up to present day, lost count but somewhere near 800-1000.

I had/have some Matchbox stuff, but was way more into Hot Wheels as a kid.

Best $0.99 you can spend.

This also had the red lines sometimes...

Matchbox definitely had more detail and were more true to scale.

Also had a mix of American and European (mainly British) prototypes and some familiar brands but odd models.

I think my favorites are the early, narrow wheeled superfast. They roll well but don't have obnoxious fat front tires.

For those that don't know- in the early 2000's (IIRC) Mattel (Hot Wheels) bought Matchbox, so now they are the same company.

It seems like Matchbox is focusing more on trucks and commercial vehicles including a licensed jeep series.

Hotwheels seems to have adopted a "paint something on everything" strategy, and has a LOT of fantasy type models out.

I went to look at a collection last week after a friend of mines father passed away, approximately 400 cars but no early redlines. Here’s a pic of one wall.

Yesterday. I usually go for most "real" or "regular" cars, most years, makes/models and re-paints if I like it enough regardless of set. I collect by the car, not sets.

I do like some of their crazy(er) looking cars, if I think they were done well and I get a laugh I'll get it. These are still, then and now intended for small kids so there is that factor in it somewhere for me still..

Wow, some expensive toys. I'm going to look thru my old ones. I think I have the Datsun 280 in silver. Probably have 75-100 of them. Many were broken or sold at yard sales when my son was enjoying them. Had lots of orange and black track with the purple connectors. Good memories!

I can pretty much tell you whats hot or not.. value wize.. condition though is everything.. all those people that own those in the site that 69A100 has shown are high rollers when it comes to buying these.. there not worried about paying the big bucks on these.. Ive seen some go for way more than most .. also some in that bunch that 69a100 showed are prototypes that are not stated in the descriptions.. those came from ex employees of mattel back in the day.. Ive been collecting redlines since these came out in 68 and to be honest.. it was only because I like them.. Not for there value years after.. though it has been rewarding..

I had them back in the day...remember many of them...Fast forward and some of the new stuff is pretty cool too...
I bought a newer 53 Chevy Low rider in an attempt to make a custom Gasser like a friends car...
It worked out well and looks a lot like the real car...
Why can't they build something new that's old...

Had i known there were so many I may not have...
This pic is what I've had displayed for a lot of years but now there are too many...so I have to get a cabinet for the new acquisitions... 99.9% of what I have is only Mopar...
