I have already replaced the flimsy fiberboard/cardboard glove box, rear package shelf, and trunk divider on my '72 SSP with stainless steel fabricated replacements. Now it's on to the sun visors. I decided to perforate them to lighten up the 18 gauge weight some.

Is this going to be a race car, hence the weight savings?

You obviously like what you are doing, and are good at it, by the look of your sunvisor, so I would keep it up.

The weight savings idea is so the sun visor has less chance on flopping down due to its heavier weight compared to the factory stock item.

Sorry but restoration it isn't, hotrodding it is.

Sweet I wouldn't cover those sun visors! Put something on one side and leave one side bare! Looks cool keep it up

From a safety standpoint I would like to see them padded/covered. I guess one side could be some kind of transparent plastic, or just cover 'em up in headliner fabric and a little foam to keep it our little secret, like a hidden treasure.

Just a suggestion, DON'T make your sunvisor out of metal. No one ever expects to have an accident but if you did you do not want a piece of metal at your headline. As for going to far, it's your car and what you like to do so no you're not going too far.

Good point, since I'm more than over the hill, I'll just have to take my chances. Maybe should wear a full-face helmet.

That would be an acceptable option only if it's a vintage helmet lol.

Did you get your rear louver fitting good ? I remember it had a gap on the drivers side(?). I wonder if the heat let it settle into place.

Naw, that little gap is never going away. I also have one leg shorter than the other, so I'll have to just take it in "stride."

Then you could join me in driving my street car with a roll bar...lol.
