I ordered a vinyl top from legendary. When I ordered it I asked what type of adhesive do they recommend, and he responded D.A.P. Landau Top Adhesive. When I looked up the TDS of that product it said to not use on vinyl.

3M vinyl top adhesive popped up in a lot of searches. But it seems half of the internet loves it, and the other half hates it.

So for those here who have installed their own vinyl tops, what did you use? How easy was it to apply? How well has it held up?

Thanks
Curt

I also applied my own vinyl top and like you, did a bunch of research as to which adhesive to use. I even spoke to my local upholstery shop and the most frequent recommendation I got was the DAP Landau Top AND TRIM adhesive. I bought a gallon, used it on my top, headliner, and all of my seats to include a few small projects on other cars - Best product out there in my opinion (I still have a 1/2 gallon left but as long as you keep it sealed it will last a long time). Yes, I have tried the 3M spray on product in the past on other interior projects.
I went to Harbor Freight and bought the cheap $25 spray gun for the vinyl top. For the headliner and seats I just brushed it on. I strongly suggest the use of the spray gun for the top as coverage will be a lot more even and way faster than brushing. I also suggest having a helper for the top, neither my son nor I had ever done it before and it was quite easy. just take your time and don't "press" it down until you are sure you have the placement correct. Good Luck!!

I used the 3M 90, yellow adhesive. There are several strengths of 3M spray adhesive. Those who had issues or didn’t like it probably used the Super 77 or lesser grade.

We use a contact cement, weldwood from home depot works great also. use a cheep spray gun you can toss when your finished. Make sure it has a large tip (2.0)

The 3m90 is what used and it's still looks great afters 5 years. Just make sure u scratch the top with sand paper to give the glue something to stick to and you'll be good.
