So while I am waiting for some electrical parts I started putting in new rear shocks. After inspection I found Bubba struck again. The exhaust pipes over the rear axle is in contact with the shocks.
So I am looking for inputs as to a easy and decent exhaust sustem. Looking possible from the headers back in a 2.5” system as I am running a 340. I am also contemplating just getting the pipes after my existing mufflers as they seem ok. Looks like others had over the axle issues and I am wondering about the details from your experience.
Thank you! MF

TTI, but $$$$!
I am anti-$$$$ more like 1/2$ :) I am in past deep on this already.....just looking for good known fitment. This is what I have currently and the issue is after the mufflers. Not thrilled with the mufgler clearance but I can live with that if I can get away with a fix with wrong bends over the axle.

If you are considering new mufflers, check THIS out:

I ran Flowmasters for years. I actually liked their sound. Many guys over 50 do not. I switched to the Dynomax Welded Ultra Flo like you see above highlighted in red. I don't know if there was a power increase directly related to the mufflers because at the same time I installed them, I added a 3" intermediate section with an X pipe. It has less bite, less cackle though.
If you can weld, you can piece together a decent system for a fair price.

Thrush welded chamber...stock tailpipes with turndowns, no drone sounds great.

I too ran Flowmasters for a few years. I hated the drone I got going up my hill to my house everyday I drove my Runner. I switched to the ultraflos and man do I love them. Less drone, and more of a deeper Mopar sound compared to the tinny Chevy sound. Love them so I recently switched to them on my Charger as well. Can't wait to fire it up and hear them once the cam is broke in!

Is there a local shop that bends and installs their own systems ? Usually local shops, like Monroe or similar, enjoy working on Hot Rods, compared to the same old-same old daily drivers, and you may get a better price on it, than you would think...

You can use stock tailpipes but the muffler needs to be position properly for the tailpipe to fit.

If you just want something that fits, most muffler shops can bend up a system, or you could piece together some stock replacement parts, but those systems won't flow as well as a mandrel bent system with smooth bends like what TTI sells. Wow, just looked at the cost of the TTI exhaust system, quite a price increase since the last system i bought 10-years ago.

I used the Jegs header back 2.5 kit with Dynomax mufflers and it fit well. Having a welder is a must though, and the only mods were at the collectors but that was because of the headers themselves and not the pipes.

I too have used the Jeg's 2.5 kit and it worked and fit fine. I think it's the best bang for the buck if you don't need the big fancy stuff. Around $250 for a header-back system if I remember, not including mufflers. They give you clamps which is okay to get it fit but I later welded it for a nice leak-proof system. I paired it with Hooker comp 1-7/8" headers and d-max super turbos. TTI's kit is one of the best but as stated quite a bit more dough..Local shops around here wanted $700-$1000 to fab up a full 3" system..no way!

Just bought the PYPES 2.5 stainless header back system w/o mufflers from Summit for 259. The ubolt clamps suck ***, so I’ll get lap bands and pick the mufflers I like.

Yeah good point the system isn’t right. I might need to go as far back as the headers.

Lap bands? Are going to need to weld in any hangers?

Yes my funding is not great right now so the high end solutions are not an option right bow I don’t think. Lots of pieces in those kits did you weld them or clamp them? Good input on fitment.

Bought everything from Jeggs, found the best price for the tailpipes at Summit. All 2 1/2" heavy wall, anodized. Just under $350. Did my own cutting, welding, installation.
