hi guys -

My horn recently stopped working and i’m not sure where to start my troubleshooting. Oddly enough, when i turn on my hazards i get sparks at the horn button like there’s a charge coming through the column. Any thoughts on where i should start?

My LO horn doesnt work (mine has HI/LO note pair)

I followed a few different guides on fixing them. Took mine apart, cleaned it, and made sure the diaphragm was isolated from the body.... but it still won't go. There must be some electrical part in them which eventually goes bad for whatever reason

Unless someone has some other insight I say it's time for a new one

There are many things to test, but THE ONLY i can think to get sparks on column related to horns and hazzards is the horn contact rod built into turning switch got cracked and is making contact with ground and hazzard section/contacts of turning switch inside the column. Or wire to the rod.

About horn itself, you can begin disconecting turning switch plug down the column and ground the black wire. That should make the horns work if everthing afterward is in working orden

It could be also some of the 4 corners wires or terminals cut or loosen from switch and making contact with the switch horn rod ( dark green, light green, brown or tan ). you can check:

presing brakes pedal... sparks ? then some of the rear indicators ( Dark green or Brown ) or also white wire coming from brake pedal switch.

To discard which rear indicator... turn to left... dark green wire is shorting out. Turn to right... Brown wire is shorting out. No sparks... is brakes input wire ( white )

No sparks ? the some of the front indicators is shorting out with the horn switch rod.

turn to left... sparks ? then is front left indicator ( light green ) wire shorting out since sparks didn't come out when giving brakes... No sparks ?

turn to right... sparks ? then right indicator front wire ( Tan ) is the wire shorting out.

Since turning lights will feed fronts and rears on each side, the brake light is the one which helps if on some of the test to track the failure is between front and rears
