1962 Dodge Trim Lines - The TRUTH, please

with those speed lines...the car look like it is doing 80 when parked.....many folks only got a glimpse of the tail lights opening in the distance, many never saw the face...by far the best single year production car in the 60's

Funny you say that. When I first got my 62 330 2-door post, I told everyone it's so ugly it's pretty. Now I totally love their lines and looks. View attachment 722213

Yep, it kind of grows on you after awhile. Not my favorite mopar when I bought mine but after researching the history and working on it, it's a fascinating vehicle. Makes you wonder what they were smoking back then.

After looking at the lines and different features, you begin to see how they incorporated the "Jet Era" into the design.

Smoky take offs!

Show off.
I walked by mine multiple times, multiple years, months, weeks, sitting under a pile of junk, under a dirty blanket, covered in dirt, with dirt under that, surrounded by junk that was covered in dirt - let's just say it was dirty and hard to see, although I knew it was a 62.

Now I don't know why I didn't have to have one decades ago.

I noticed yesterday the fuse box and bulkhead connector use tabs and plug connectors. Seems a better design than the later 'plug two connectors together through these holes and good luck.'

The trim your speaking about that runs the length of the body with spears on each end was a later option for the 440 called the "sports sweep" .It was standard on the polara 500.

I've actually been searching for all the stainless trim (14pieces) for 3 years.I have the end spears (pott metal) but not the small mirror piece and both the door handle pieces also.
Don't know if I'll ever fined them but hope springs eternal.

Thank you, good info.
I've heard of the elusive mirror piece, and door handle pieces.
I take it a mirror was not available on the passenger side.
My guess is these are all specific pieces to the 62, and they didn't 'repurpose' trim pieces for the sports sweep.

Looking in the options code book, not till '63.

I'll keep an eye out for them. Need someone parting one out.

Are you sure the spears are pot metal?

They are pot metal on my Polara 500, dont know about the lower end Darts.

Could be like the eyebrows over the headlights. The Polara 500 are pot metal but the lower end Darts are stainless.

I’m pretty sure the spikes on my 62 Fury are stainless. The chrome pieces under door handles are hard to find! I have all my pieces and don’t know where you’d find extras. Saw the door handle pieces on eBay once for $95 each.

We were talking about the 880 model. Also, we're using letters now.
Correct the statement was that 62-64s were C bodies but the 880 before 65 was not considered a C body. As stated the C body designation started in 65.

Yep they're pott metal ,slippery little suckers .Also the mirror piece.

There are two 62''s for sale locally. One red with red wheels and dog dish caps. One black with black wheels with dog dish caps. Both are in the 30G's+ range. That is a whole Lotta of coin for so much ugly, I mean cool. If only I didn't have so many projects already?
