Trying to get the paint code for a 1970 RR hood paint stripe... base color is black.

It appears to be textured...

Need information to repaint.

Thanks in advance.

Organisol is the name of it. Go to your local PPG paint shop and they can make up the original lacquer blend for you.

It’s the same as the hood on a 69-69.5 runner right?

Where was your car built? Different factories had their ways of doing things. Most of the plants used Organisol but after May 1968 the St. Louis plant switched to matte black enamel.

Car was built at the Lynch Road Plant...

On the build tag, which letters or numbers are dedicated to the build plant, and how many plants where there?

Our local PPG paint store stopped mixing lacquer a few years ago and I thought the proper texture for the Organosol was no longer available. Wasn't there a post about Organisol on here once ?

I just recently took a picture of the mix and sent it to moparnation74 in a pm. I accidentally threw it away, but maybe he still has it. Any chance you still have it Justin? @moparnation74

I have a can of the original lacquer Organosol in my shop, but PPG is not selling lacquer any longer from my understanding and the texture is no longer available, hasn't been for 3-4 yrs. PPG is selling Organosol in a Urethane now and it's not correct but it's close. If I can still buy the original lacquer let me know where so I can get some.

Here is where I get my paint. They tell me that they can make the original lacquer mix. Rick is the man to talk to. He is only in Tuesdays and Wednesdays though.

Mine appears to be just a satin black, not textured like organisol on my original paint 70' Road Runner. However, as old and weathered as it is. Maybe it has lost it texture over the years.

The texture gets lost through time....and then it looks as you pictured above...
