on 66 b body buckets they have what a believe is a coating or a vinyl over the seat back panels and the side panel by the seat adjustment slide. what is a good way to restore these if the original coatings/covering is too damaged?
If they are in good but faded shape you can re-dye them. I did mine with Herbs interior paint. If it’s all scratched up and bad that way, I could only see using a very thin vinyl. Original stuff almost looks like a lamination. Carpet at the bottom is glued and has a metal re-enforcement that has pins that go through the seat back.
The only two options I could find were to heat the plastic up to strip it off and replace it with vinyl. Vinyl is too soft and I couldn't see it holding up for long so I went with option two. I kept buying seats and parts until I had enough good parts to cobble together a nice set.
