Vinyl top seam width. HELP!

im looking for a little help..... is there anyone that has an original 71 rr, gtx, Sebring, etc with a vinyl top? I am having one made and need the width from the middle of one seam (front to back to the middle of the other seam. I’ve been told 42 but that seems narrow to me???? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I wish you would have asked 2 months ago when I ripped my vinyl top off & patched my windshield corners...
I didnt bother taking measurements because its not going back on. I'm sure others will chime in though..
Out of curiosity, cant you buy repop vinyl tops for our 71's?

Thank you for the reply. Yes, you can buy them but there are several reasons I am having it made... my upholstery guy is 84 years old and has been doing tops for 62 years. He has bone cancer and doesn’t have the strength to pull on the “unstretchable” vinyl tops that are being offered by legendary and year one. He is going to make one that he can pull on. He is trying to pay for doctor bills (reason he is still working) and I would like to do whatever I can to make the job as pleasureable as possible!

Hey Dane didn't know you were working on a '71. Are you putting a full vinyl top or half? Mine is long gone but there are very distinct marks on the roof where the seams were, might get you in the ballpark.

Hey Grabber when you ripped off your vinyl top did you happen to save the trim?? I'm looking for that as well as the side trim.

Pat, I’m not working on it yet, just gathering a few parts. It s a 71 gtx super trac pack car with a full vinyl roof. Close is all I’m after!!! Doesn’t have to be exact. Thank you!
