383-440 B-body 4 bbl fresh air air cleaners:
1969 has oval base, filter and top
1970 has oval base (different than 1969) round air filter and round top.

383 taller neck that sits on carb
440 short neck that sits on carb

My early 69 built 70 model came with a 1969 type oval bottom and top. Saw this same discussion on GYC episode. Some early 70 builds received carry over parts e.g. the aluminum six pack intakes used on 70's before going to cast iron.

No kidding? That makes complete sense.

I am considering cutting off the shield on the front of my lower 6bbl air cleaner once I complete the N96 setup.
Anyone have a source/price for the correct no shield 6bbl base?
TIA
