How much could one expect to pay to get a 426 hemi rebuilt.? Complete job, removed and installed, turn key.
Thanks, Paul

The rebuild alone would be at least 5-8 grand depending on condition of what you have. New pistons, cam, head work needed etc. Hemi parts are not cheap, but the word Hemi says it all (especially gen 2"s).

Also need to factor in any upgrades..... 10 + would not surprise me in the least. Just "playing" with mine can be 2k easy....

Finding someone good to do the work is the hard part. Then what ever the quote to do the work is, double it and you might be in the ball park.

I have somewhere around 17.5G's into mine. Years of gathering new and used parts. Mine is obviously way above stock. If you have everything already and was a running Hemi before, I would say probably 5-10G's for the rebuild depending what it needs.

Clearly this is an expensive endeavor. PM me your address and I will come and remove the temptation from your garage.

R&R a Hemi - maybe... $2500-$3000

Full rebuild on a Hemi - basically re-use everything possible but new wear items like cam, pistons, gaskets, lifters, bearings, rings... probably $10,000-$12,000 ? I'd budget for around $15,000 total

Paul you’re in luck. Look up Larry Shephard(?),Akron,Oh on S.Main St. He should be able to help & not too far away.

If people expect to pay some of these larger numbers just to rebuild a Hemi, I think I'd better go into the Hemi rebuilding business...

If you already have everything than it is not really all that much more than a 440. Probably several hundred dollars more. If you are missing key Hemi only components than the price goes up when you can actually find the parts.

It would cost both arms and both legs ........

All hemi cars ive had made me money when i sell them. The price for biggest boys toys are always expensive. Remember it is a real race motor! Sure used on street but still it is what it is!!!

It should be mentioned, that if parts are missing and it needs 'correct' parts hunted down. A '66-'69 Hemi is going to be cheaper than a '70-'71 especially carbs.

So, what did it dyno at? Got a hemi out at the moment, somewhat similar...maybe.LOL. 430" 11-1 comp, roller cam, weiand tunnel ram, 750 dp holleys, stock heads and big oil system. Oh, and direct port system under the manifold with a spray bar system in the plenum. But I wont be using that for a while. If ya dont mind sharing I will keep the numbers to myself...lol. Good looking piece you got there!
