I don't think the answer to my question is found in the factory service manual, so here goes: is the center-rear hood bumper supposed to make contact with the cowl when the hood is closed?

On my '72 SSP the left and right rear bumpers are touching down, but the center bumper has obvious space. Does your center bumper make more contact than mine? Thank you.

I'm glad you brought this up, I went to check mine, and its gone! Must have come off after restoration as I remember installing one, and I do remember it did make contact, but it was light contact.

I found a replacement I had and installed it, and it just barely touches, or is only about 1/16th of an inch away, hard to tell . Its there really to prevent the hood from being pushed down to far and interfering with the wipers I believe. Here is what mine looks like with the hood completely closed.

I just widened the hood to driver's fender gap slightly and now the hood seems to have settled farther down-it always seemed to stick up a little and I believed it was a hinge adjustment problem, until now.
