I have had what appeared to me as a 70-71 Hemi K frame. I've owned it for somewhere between 22-25 years. There is no obvious signs of repairs or replacement pieces. I tried to swap it for a 66-67 Hemi K frame a month or so ago and was told that it had changes they were not interested in swapping. Someone please tell me exactly what I have and about any modifications or changes they see on this item. Also if anyone has a 66-67 Hemi K frame they would be willing to swap for this one. I've been told so far that it's a E body K frame with early B body modifications.

The side channel brackets look the same as '70 sway bar bush mounts.
Skid pan looks a little different, but may be from a later model?

My 2 cents worth. :)

The bars across each end and the indentations on the main part indicated a 70-71 to me. I thought in 70-71 that the B & E body Hemi K frames were the same. I don't know how it was determined that I was told it was a E body piece. There also seems to be areas of question on the skid plate and the idler arm attaching point.

Think early skid plate 66-69? Same as my 66.
It very well could be as I did a 70 six pack car some time back and the skid plate on it was the rounded type. I guess they could have used that on the Hemi ones too. All I can say is if someone modified this one before I obtained it they were talented as I see no obvious signs of changes. It has factory quality welds, and no grinding or marks from cutting.

I believe you have the K frame that you need. Like others have mentioned the idler arm location looks like the one used for 66-67 cars, and it has the 66-69 style skid plate on it. Appears like someone must have added the 70 sway bar mounts to it. You could remove those and weld up the holes and role on IMO. although it does appear they have modified it for the clearance for the 70 style sway bar to travel through the K frame itself. I'm not sure if they heated that up and made that relief or if it was done another way. You can still see the holes at the front for the original sway bar location, so I am not 100percent sure what has been done, but it appears as if the just modified it to use with the later 70 style sway bar to me. I am attaching an ebay auction for reference only of a 66-67 hemi K frame so you can look and compare those pictures to yours.
