As most of you know records by Chrysler either don't exist or have been never revealed publicly on how many cars were painted a certain color for 1969.

Over the years I've been taking photos of Fender Tags and asking sellers for images of their tags in order to get a better sense for rarity in colors. I have 1,200 1969 Road Runner tags on file now, and present to you the data collected from those.

The 99 colors are not separated as cars have been repainted and their original colors have been lost, hence the bulk grouping.

As you can imagine, these percentages will float up or down based on more tags flowing in. But by and large, this is the most thorough representation of colors offered, and a fairly accurate representation of the complete model run as a whole.

To help I encourage you to take photos of 69 Road Runner tags and PM them to me.

Good work! That should be a stable data base meaning I don't think you will see too much fluctuation in the relative numbers.

Any breakdown by body style or are these just total numbers?

I have all the data to make that work. In time I should be able to present a Model/Interior Color breakdown. Though some of the "combos" are of singular cars like the L1 and Y3 convertibles.

I'm not up on all the paint codes, but I would think that green would be the most popular colors in that era.

Cool info. Have you been able to verify the percentage of A14 cars made? I've heard numbers but was curious if during your research you found anything more?

I would think the opposite about green. The draft was on, GI's were coming home from SE Asia and buying the muscle cars. Green vehicles, green uniforms, green jungles, green airplanes. I believe the last thing they would want to see was green.

My memories of Mopars in General is green was seen most of the time. That Includes all models of sedans, wagons etc. Older people then seemed to favor green or tan/beige. Roadrunners and Muscle cars in general seemed to be more diverse though. 300,000 plus 1969 furys built, and it seemed like a third of them were green.Lol

Interesting that R4 is still an available color on the Challenger today!

I believe "greens" was definitely true of the GTX. Roadrunner seemed more all over the place. Which would make sence. GTX was typically more conservative buyers. Roadrunner younger. 69Hurstsc looks to have solid polling base data for comparisons.

Mine is a W1 but I don't have the fender tag. Someone had painted it blue. I'm in the process of painting it White again.

I'm a little disappointed that the 96,97,98,99s are all grouped together. I would like a better idea of how common my 96 96 car is, rather than a member of a large group.

Tell me how I'm supposed to accurately represent a 99 99 car that's in primer and has no documented history as to what color it was originally?

The plants changed there coding by the day at times. I have Rallye Green cars coded as 97E one day and 99 99 the next day. Go be disappointed somewhere else.

I said i was a little disappointed, i didn't say it was your fault. I know info is sketchy at best or nonexistent. I apreciate the effort, i really do, but i still get to be disappointed if i want.

Than don't view the data or collect it on your own to present. I'd happily critique your post.
