Does anyone know why some 71 RR's only had 2 rear seat belts and not 3 ?

Standard two sets of lap belts. Some people ordered 3.

All 71 B bodies got 3 seat belts in the rear unless ordered otherwise.

Huh? Contradictory statements here.

3 rear belts were standard and the only option on the order form was to add rear shoulder belts. Removing the center belts was not an option on the order form or in any paperwork I’ve seen.
My guess would be if you’re seein this on an original car, either they were removed at some point or mistakenly omitted on the assembly line.

Sorry, I should of added a statement to my original comment on the correction. This info came from Bill Edwards, Seatbelt restorer.

What about buckets with "Buddy seat"?

Three in the front with the Buddy Seat

Here's the bolt hole on my drivers side. It's covered in the seam sealer. The reason I asked the question about 2 or 3 belts is my friends RR with identical interior has 3. Both mine are on the passenger side, It's quite a stretch for the belt to reach the drivers side clip. Seams with 2 belts they would've put one in each hole. Did they F mine up....
