Anyone give some feedback on this area ? Been there for work a lot , thinking of retiring in the area. Thanks

JUMP, especially if you like a ‘southern drawl’!

SC and NC are becoming very "popular" places to move . . . as the snowflakes move to Florida and find out how hot and muggy it is there, so the move to the halfway point - which is NC and SC to settle so it's not quite as hot and muggy in the summer - and not as cold and snowy in the winter . . .

Making my area in NC get far too congested . . . YUCK ! ! !

Been living there and spartanburg
For 50 years and it is a great place. 30 minutes to the mountains, 3 hours to the beach and great people.

believe it or not but its sometimes hotter then Florida

I moved to the Greenville area from Northern, IL when I retired three years ago. Winters are great. We are seldom more than a few days away from a sixty degree day. It snows once or twice a winter and it's gone in a day or two. June, July and August are brutal. Upper 90's with high humidity day after day with very little relief at night. AC in my garage is just as necessary as heat was in IL. I'm actually considering moving about 30 miles North closer to Asheville, NC. Asheville is in the mountains and isn't nearly as hot and humid in the summer. If hot weather doesn't bother you, you'll like it here!

I'm wanting to move south. NC SC or even Tennessee. I have roots there. I'm starting to worry about how populated it's becoming. Things change when a lot of transplants from other states settle in a particular area. Taxes are tolerable there right now.

I've been working with a realtor in Greenville and she said that it has gotten crazy there and prices are on the up swing every where.

So finally getting out of the grip of IL, Al?? BRAVO!!!!

I cant wait till I get my chance!!!

Mar it’s been cooking for awhile. We want to be able to retire one day and live a descent life. In our area we are just paying for someone else’s retirement. It may still be a couple of years but we are getting close. We have been looking also because we want less winter ! It’s hard I’ve been in Chicago my whole life I lived in the city growing up as a kid now I won’t even go in the city unless I have to. It’s going to be a big change in our life. My older daughter is a nurse at Good Sam and my younger goes to Elmhurst college so they may not come with if we go sooner than later. So that’s going to be hard on us. So we will see.

I hear ya brother. Ive been cooking it up for about 5 years now, but since my business is based in Chicago, I wont be able to leave till I retire/sell it. And I live in Lombard, so I know all about paying for someone else. lol

Good luck!!

The western Carolinas are great. If you want to move here I would suggest not looking in the downtown areas as you can get much more for your money out of town. $500,000 will get you a 1800 SF house down town G'ville
While the same outside town is $300,000.
I retired from the building development in 2002 but my wife works in real estate so she keeps me abreast of the market. They are building a new condo project downtown with prices up to 1.3 mil.
