I acquired a fresh 360 short block from a friend. Casting # 53006921, 89-92 truck. It has the roller cam and timing chain installed with the roller lifters, nothing else. My question is: will the later 93 up Magnum heads work? I have a complete core 360 from an 95 Jeep for the heads/rockers and other parts. Also have an aftermarket aluminum intake drilled for either the LA or Magnum heads.

OEM Magnum heads are prone to cracking so inspect them carefully prior to assembly. A lot of builders ditch the OEM's and go with either EngineQuest iron heads or Eddy aluminum.

yes*

The Mag heads require oiling through the push rods.

I am not sure if the LA roller pushrods provide oiling, but I am pretty sure per this board, that they are the same length, however what is not super clear is the total length required vis a vie deck height.

If you have all the valvetrain from both engines, YOU would be the one to come up with the definitive answer!

Please share your findings.

I have the opposite combo on a back burner project-

A running 318 roller motor and a 5.9 Mag with a spun bearing.

That block is rocker shaft oiling, not pushrod. At least it shouldn't be pushrod.

You may have to change the lifters if they aren't capable of PR oiling when going to Mag heads on it.

Most all the the newer Magnum heads are cracked, some leak most dont

I don't have the LA heads, but I did locate some core Magnum heads to test fit. First question is if the LA and Magnums head gaskets interchange?
