So last Saturday I had a appointment to have cardio testing done.
I arrive at 8:17 they said to be there buy 8:20 for my 8:40 testing.
3 minutes to do the auto singeing and waiting in the reception area.
I hear somebody back the hall in one of the rooms coughing like she was a lifetime smoker and 90 years old.
I said to the receptionist, is she sick?
Just then she steps out of the room coughing like crazy and holding her hand over her masked RED face.
She heard what I asked the receptionist and said that she has a mask on and that I can ware one to.
As I head out with my shoulder to the EXIT door so I avoid touching anything I hear the receptionist saying WOULD YOU LIKE TO RESCHEDULE?

Going to the doctor's office is pretty much taking your health in your hands....damned if you do, damned if you don't....

IDK why anyone with PTO (paid time off) goes to work sick.

STAY HOME

You get well faster and you don't get anyone else sick.

Medical professionals should set a better example.

Also I don’t understand why a patient shows up to their specialists visit with the flu........

Also stay home and don’t get the whole office sick........

Also in regards to pto.....don’t assume all employees have those benefits.....you would be surprised just how cheap some systems are......

I don’t disagree....all people, patients and staff should stay home when they are sick.........

I think part of why people go to their appointments sick is the long lead time to get rescheduled if you have to cancel. Last time I tried to make an appointment with a specialist, it was about a 6 month wait. Who can afford to wait 6 months to see a specialist? There's usually an important reason you are trying to get in to see them in the first place!!

Our clinic lead time is less than seven days......they still show up for appointments sick.....

Lead time vary depending on practice size.....and where you live.......

6 months is ridiculous......

Most people think PTO is Paid Time Off. In my world it’s ‘Pretend’ Time Off.

Ialso don't understand why people with a cold go to the doctor at all

stay home

and I don't understand the policy of any business that requires a doctors note for sick time.

you are spreading germs with that policy

simply punish chronic offenders period

...and that's why I qualified my statement with ..." has PTO..."

you really shouldn't come to work sick, regardless

it's either selfishness or self importance

I agree.....every year when someone does this we all get it.....I don’t care if they wear a mask or hide in another room.....stay home......

I have always told these people if I get sick from you are you going to pay my copay and medication?

The major problem is people budget PTO like they do their finances.........they are always barely making it......

Yes it is, but that's how it is where I live. IU Health has taken over pretty much all the medical practices around here and that's what we have to deal with now a days if you need to see a specialist for much of anything.

For example,... I've had to have a couple of heart stents placed. If I need to make a checkup appointment with my Cardiologist, it's usually 2-3 months out to get an appointment, and I'm one of his patients, not a new person looking to get to see someone.

I'm having some interior painting done in my home. The guy comes over Friday to bring the contract to be signed. This guy is about 30 and huge, about 6'4", got to be 200 lbs. of muscle, comes in we sit down and sign the paper as my wife comes down. She has had a cold for a week and was coughing a lot. I introduced her as she hasn't seen this guy. They shake hands and he leaves (bad move on her part). He was to be here today at 9 am to start. About 20 after nine I get a call from him "I am so sorry but I have a bad cold and been knocked out these past few days". He thought I could make it by today but sounded like crap. My little wife of 128 lbs. brought this giant down ... and the bug she gave him had something to do with it too. He apologized for not making it, and I did the same for his cold.

Finally got a call for the reschedule, she said some time in May, will get back to me........good thing I'm not desperate.
