I want to replace my existing existing disc brakes with and updated ones. I have 15x8 wheels on it. Does any one have suggestions on where I should look to purchase this. I'd like to do the slotted disc brakes. I want to redo the rear drum brakes but keep them drum just newer parts is there a kit out there for drum brakes greatly appreciate any help.

For drum look up "Brakes in a Box".They have complete kits for drum brakes. As far as aftermarket Discs there are many companies out there. Check with our friends from PST. They are members on here and give discounts. I Never looked if they have drum brake stuff.

You can swap the caliper brackets for the later b-body models and put on factory 11.75" discs. With good pads and quality rotors you should be fine. You can reuse your calipers. RotorPros sells drilled and slotted rotors in factory sizes.

I'd also recommend swapping to the newer two-piece master cylinder. If you have or want power brakes you can use a booster off of a 1979 Cordoba which will mate up with the 73 firewall but is made for the two bolt master.

The hardest part is try to find the pin kind caliper mounting brackets to install as mentioned the 11.75" ( so called rounded to 12" ) rotors used on later B bodies. Centric sell these slotted and drilled as a regular replacement part on several part stores like Rockauto on an affordable price. Rest of hardware remains exactly the same. Myself used ceramic pads on assembly, but still using 10.9" rotors ( Centric slotted and drilled ) untill find an affordable set of caliper brackets pins kind for the bigger rotors.

about drums... metallic pads, refresh parts and done

you can change to slider calipers thought, which are more common so cheaper, but not free mantenience due the supression noises parts added which pins don't need.

I honestly wouldn't worry pin vs slider. Sorry on the 11.75, I corrected it in my post.
 
well, it could be important mainly if your car is already pin kind caliper and just need the bracket. Now if you don't care to change the calipers allong with the brackets, that's a diff deal.

Personally I have seen lot of A body buddies dealing with the brakes noises being slider kind so, I definitelly preffer to keep pin kind.
 
Any one know since I'm going from drum to disc in the rear do I need and adjustable proportional valve or can I still use my stock one ?
 
You need a adjustable the wilwood kit I got sent me a prop valve just for the rear I believe it mounted on the rear we're the three way should go !
 
74 charger, i just picked up rotors, calipers (pin-type with bolts and clip), outer/inner bearings and seals from Napa. Was affordable... they did not have ceramic pads, i got those from autozone. If you order online and pay/pick up in store you get a discount. Also, got 44.44 back for the old calipers. Total was 216.30...

Which FYI, Eclipse brand calipers, one of them came with the clip, the other one was missing, so they ordered a set at no charge i have to pick up Friday. Otherwise came with 2 bolts, clip, brake line bolt with 2 copper washers.

I purchased slotted/hole disc kit thru CPP they sell on Classic Industries.

That's a lot of money and a lot of labor.

Factory disk brakes are fine, even the 10" version.

Maybe if you are autocrossing or just have to have the restomod look.....

Not a lot of money considering all the other money spent on the car, and more than worth it. The labor isn't difficult at all. It took me less than 2 hours to install mine and I'm no mechanic.

I didn't do it for autocross or a look. I did it so my Demon would stop, period.
 
Not to keep on and on, but I have 5K in my car total so yeah, 900 is a lot.

...and my rebuilt factory brakes stop just fine.
 
With factory assembly, you still can get better replacement parts not really expensive. Such as drilled and slotted disc ( Centric brand ) and ceramic or metallic pads ( I got Bendix Ceramic pads ). I made it! But still on factory and plug and plays assembly. No need to get $900 invested for a car driven 1K miles per year or even less. My car is/was a driver and really enough with that upgrade. Great improvement on $120 or so invested, and still can play with factory replacements from any shop searching at any parts catalog source in case of emergency.

Why wouldn't you just spring for a Wilwood brake kit? Their braking technology is far superior to anything Chrysler built. I have a kit on my Demon and love it. You only have to pull two pins to change the pads, no more dismantling the braking system for new pads.

I didn't feel the need to buy there name I used to work on sprint cars and we had them on our car . But for the amount of use this car gets what I purchased will be a lot better than my drum brakes. I understand what your saying but I don't plan on changing the brake pads a lot on this car .
My money goes every where in this car it's and equal opportunity money pit lol.
