Getting ready to remove gas pedal to install new carpet. I understand the throttle cable needs removed and I know how that’s done. But, can someone please give me a brief description on how to remove the pedal and rubber block ? Is there a metal plate inside the rubber that is bolted down through the floor ?

Just two nuts under the car... the pedal is NOT connected to the throttle cable assembly..

The nuts are not serrated. The nuts have a captured star washer. They take a 7/16 socket. Wire brush the ends of the studs and use penetrating lube. They are fine threads and not very forgiving with rust and dirt, the studs can break off.

The nuts are not blocked by the torsion bar, unless you’ve have a bad accident. The nuts could be blocked by the exhaust pipe, depending on your system. This car you can see they are not blocked by the torsion bar but they are blocked by the exhaust pipe.

Got it off guys, thank you for the extra effort with pics. Maybe, I will buy a new one. The rubber block that lays flat on the floor is pretty cracked up from use.
