I'm trying to figure out what color the grille needs to be on my 68 GTX project. Some of the pictures I see show the grille being black and others show it more of an argent silver color. Can anyone provide any insight as to what is correct or were both used during that year? Thanks for any help.

It's a light Argent on the inside borders, and Dark argent on the thin plastic vanes.
Almost Black.

Here’s a picture of a 68 I had, I believe it was correct. Looked like it was never refinished. Black and white picture doesn’t help too much but at least shows where the paint was. Best pictures I have with me.

Mine is an untouched original, damage and all. The silver is indeed "argent" and I'd call the dark areas more of a satin black
or perhaps a very dark slate gray, but remember it has to match the headlight bezels so I'm betting satin black.

Since you know it's original, could you please post some close-up's of the grill at different places? Thnx!

You sure? She's pretty ugly up close. :)
Sure, I'll get you some next time I'm out in the garage.

There's also one on eBay right now that claims to be original. Gray plastic casting with argent
and some seriously faded black paint, like they get like over the years.
Seller is seriously proud of it, too.

Classic Industries continues to show a reproduction one in their catalog "coming soon", but it seems
like they've said that forever - even though they're happily accepting pre-orders on it now.
Sounds like they've got to sell so many of them before they actually can afford to have them made.

I keep a lot of pictures for reference purposes. You can't beat stock factory pic's
when you can get em!
