Changing a 71 B body manual column length to a power steering floor shift.

I think the shaft difference is 3" but want to make sure. do i just cut 3" off the bottom solid shaft?

I would sell the manual steering shaft IF it is also for floor shift and buy p/s column. Even if new p/s column is column shift, you van convert that to floor shift much easier. I have extended p/s column for manual use, ( no adapter, welded extended shaft) pita. I have converted column to floor shift, not too bad at all. Manual x floor shift columns around here bring $250-300 for nice ones.
