I thoroughly enjoyed the endorphin rush as the last rear bumper bracket bolt came out without snapping.

It took much WD40, some heat and careful coercing, but all 7, (one was already broken) came out in one piece.

The rest of the disassembly will hopefully be a breeze as I get the car ready to send off for paint.

Ahhh, the small pleasures in life!

Funny you say that i broke 3 bolts off removing my fender... I guess I should have used wd40 lol

My Standard Operating Procedure is soak and resoak rusted bolts ahead of time, give it a twist, if it doesn't go easy, resoak, heat, resoak, hope for the best.

Which fender bolts; tops, bottoms or front and rear?

All of my bolts are super rusted. Well, then again it looked my car was under water for 10 years.. So I expect all will be a pain in the butt. 1 of the bolts under the car for the rear portion of the fender snapped. 1 up front on the inner fender snapped. and one of the square nuts broke off the inside of the front part near the radiator that has 3 bolts that are on an angle.

Score!
I'm glad we don't have to deal with that too much out here in the dry west.
If an impact wrench won't break it loose, cut that ****** off.

Have you ever used Kroil ?
Amazing stuff . . . And muck better than WD-40.

PB Blaster works pretty well here.
Reminds me when we pulled the original pitman arm off of my son's car.
Two broken pullers, 1 broken socket and a good portion of a 3" cut off wheel later she came loose. There was much shrapnel, many tools, and a considerable amount of swearing flying around the shop that day.

When you install new ones, dip the new bolt threads in graphite . That will protect those from rust and seizing up.

bought one of these and all I can say is wish I one of these years ago

I'm a Facility maintenance guy for 23 years in a newspaper building, now in
A juvenile hall. I have seen how fast a small victory can change direction in a hurry.

Final torquing the head bolts is one of my personal favorite parts of this hobby. That, and driving around somebody on the top end of the track!
