Browsing through my '72 Factory Service Manual I stopped on page 0-6 to find the specified frame lift points, the rear point recommended as being b/t 23" and 33" ahead of the rear axle centerline. I measure and place blue masking tape at those specified points and what do I find? The muffler shop located my side exhaust outlets smack dab in the middle!

The good news is that I have been seriously considering the addition of a pair of resonators to shush up the "Purple Hornies" we installed with the side exhaust. We'll take on the mods later this year.

Place jack right behind the pipe. That is where I always lift.......I've never looked at the manual for that though. Certainly not worth moving the pipe for though in my opinion.

This is for future shops and owners/relatives when the car is on a lift and I am not around to supervise the numbskulls. I can jack-up by way of differential for now.

Back in the day, I would just get the bumper jack out of the trunk and use that. I wouldn't think about using it now.
