Hey guys, I've got a 1968 Coronet 440. I'm doing an RT tribute and need to install the rear finish panel on the tail that goes between the two tail lights. I need to drill out I believe is eight holes on the back that holds the finish panel.

Does anybody have the exact measurements that I need to drill the holes? I don't want to butcher the back of this thing by drilling holes in the wrong place. Any help is greatly appreciated thank you so much!

I have a '68 Coronet 500 with the tail panel removed (shouldn't be any different than an R/T panel AFAIK), I can get pics and measurements for you this weekend if nobody else gets them to you first.

BTW, Do you know if they're reproducing the "R/T" or "500" emblems for the tailpanels, or if any reproduced emblem will fit good enough?

Thanks bud, I truly appreciate it!! I wish I had a template to lay over and just mark the holes!

The panels for 500 and RT are exactly the same. The only difference is the emblems. I know they reproduce the RT, I just picked up a new one. Not sure about the 500? The emblems have grooves in the back that allow them to fit flush over the slots in the panel. Unique to this year/model. Are you looking for a 500 emblem? I might have one kicking around. Not sure of shape? Thanks again.

Year One sells a reproduction 68 R/T tail panel emblem but the 500 emblem is not reproduced. I picked up an Nos one for my 500 ragtop a few years back.

Hi, do you want the measures from the panel or the holes in the car, if you want I can measure the panel today at night, from the car you'll have to wait until tomorrow.

I'm looking where to drill the holes on the tail panel of the car.

That would be awesome. I need to know exactly where to drill the holes on the tail body panel in order to feed the screws from the finish panel through. Don't want to butcher it. Too bad they don't make a template you can just lay over it!

Thanks again

Those are the ones! We can use metric or imperial. Metric would probably be better given the finer measurement. I'm in Toronto. We can speak over the phone if that's easier? I appreciate the help.

I was able to get out to the car today, I used inches to measure as I'm sure that's what was originally used. All my measurements are from center to center of the holes. The first set of holes are inboard of the taillight holes 5 3/8", the next set are 11" from the 1st set of holes. the 2 inboard sets of holes are 10" from each other and 11" from the outboards. The upper and lower holes are 1" from the upper and lower body line, and approx. 1 7/8" from each other. The holes are 1/4" diameter.

Edit.... after viewing the pics from my post, they are not as clear as from my camera. Rest assure I carefully measured and

As far as the tail panel, I looked over mine and I found out I have one 500 and one R/T as the rivet holes are spaced differently. My 500 emblem looks good, just some faded paint, but I'm missing the R/T emblem. Good to know they're available at Year One.

That is awesome, thank you soooo much! Exactly what I was looking for!

So both holes from taillight inwards are 5 /38? and all holes are 1 inch top down?

You rock!

Yes 5 3/8" from each taillight hole to the center of the 1st set of each hole.

As far as the upper holes, It's probably easier to measure from the top of the panel, it's 1 1/2" from the center of each top hole to the top of the panel at the 90 degree bend. All 4 are 1 1/2".
