We'll know tomorrow. Very warm today, just like last time. When they reference Monument that's us. Monument Pass.

Colorado’s in for a wild ride of turbulent weather this week, with meteorologists predicting strong winds over Monument and a blizzard verging on another “bomb cyclone” in the Denver area after hot, dry conditions statewide.

The National Weather Service in Pueblo issued a blizzard warning for parts of the Front Range, including northern El Paso County, from noon Wednesday until noon Thursday. Winds could gust to 60 mph, and 1 to 6 inches of snow could accumulate, the warning says.

“Plan on challenging road conditions. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact commuters. Strong winds could cause tree damage.”

stay safe, stay warm, hunker down

we had a little micro burst go thru here this afternoon
mostly wind, not much rain, hail or moisture,
but what did come down was going sideways & going fast
circulating sort of, it was some seriously strange ****...
It didn't last very long, but had some real strength & moving east fast !!
It knocked all kinds of limbs down, blew ****/debris all over
then just was gone, 15 min. later it's sunny & partially cloudy 65*

It was 77 here today, will be 40 degrees colder tomorrow with 4 to 8 inches of snow and 50mph winds. If the cold front can hold off long enough tomorrow, we may get a line of thunderstorms followed by a quick change over to heavy snow and wind. Might be interesting!! Typical spring weather in Colorado!

Taking the truck to work tomorrow in case it gets ugly like the last one.

checks calendar and frowns.
yall stay Safe out there.

Never heard of a bomb cyclone before this year. Did they just make a new name for a snowstorm?
Couple years ago the new name was polar vortex. That was new for me too. Always just cold them a cold snap.

Maybe i just dont pay enough attention...

Its probably best that you don't

I'm in Brighton CO and we get nasty winds to go along with the blizzard! Several of the houses lost siding in the 50-90 mph winds we had during last Cyclone bomb. "We're not in Kansas anymore Toto"!

I thought a Bomb Cyclone was when a Mercury messed with a Big Block Mopar?

Bomb cyclone or bombogenesis was a term first used in 1989 to describe a rapidly developing low pressure system. It is a formal meteorological term and describes rapid cyclogenesis, or rapid cyclone generation where a low pressure systems central barometric pressure falls at least 24 millibars in 24 hours.

Damned impressive description!

Thank you very much. I studied meteorology in college, if I would have been better at chemistry and physics, I could have gotten a secondary degree in it!

Heavy snow started about 90 minutes ago, now we have 2 inches on the ground and 32 degrees. Amazing, 24 hours ago it was 77 degrees!

Snowing and blowing pretty good in Monument now. The nice thing about this being a second storm is a-hole bosses are not making their employees show up for work only to send them home and being stuck 24 hours in a blizzard.

Bomb cyclones don’t exist, so next you’re gonna tell me they came in on the backs of unicorns.

:fool:

Dumb name for a cold front, kind of like the excessive heat warnings we now get. :drama:

Here is the warm side of the storm, blowing dust visible on the satellite image with a little bit of forest fire smoke in the mix across Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and up into Kansas!

So here we are 24 hours later, the temperature is 50 degrees colder, its 25 now versus 75 yesterday, and its snowing with 6 inches of snow on the ground versus cloudy and warm yesterday!
