Terminal Connectors Packard 59

I am putting together the connectors for my wiring harness. I want to re-use the plastic connector but put new terminals.

Does anyone know if the packard 59 terminal female connector will work?

Looks like it has a better locking mechanism also. I read its a GM terminal but may work on mopar as well?

Or is it Packard 56? I see two of them. I need to redo my dash harness and motor.

im unsure if the dash needs the 18-22 Gauge female connector ?

What's the diff between a "59" and a "56" ?
 
That's stupid money for a 6-pack. I'm pretty sure you could find them locally for a fraction of that.

im not really sure what the difference between 56 and 59 is

but it seems packard 58 looks more like a mopar connector.
 
Summit has the small pack at a ridiculous price too, but also larger packs way cheaper.
I'm not sure of their part #s.
 
i ordered them from east beaver

i ordered like 80 pcs for around 22 bucks canadian

comes from japan so may take a bit of time but i have other stuff to finish anyways
 
I used a set like this on my dart. Worked out great just get the right crimpers. 56 series.

I saw this thread looking for information.

the Packard 59 are also now called Delphi, Aptiv, or Packard terminal ends.


The 59 is a wider version of the 56 series. It goes in the mopar and the gm headlight housing plugs.

mopar and gm also share the Packard 56 for about every other terminal on the car.

you need a special set of crimpers for them. They range for a work perfectly for $50 to $200 for the same thing.

with Packard 56 you can basically Rewire the whole car or fix the wiring you already have.
The housings are also sold in the same places as the terminals.
They match the ones on the old cars.

I bought mine from waytek. They sell them in quantities of 25-50 for a fraction of the cost of most others.
I could not find them locally anywhere
 
The most used on pre 74 Mopars were Packard 58s ( I just learnt this recently, thinking all where 56s with just minor upgrade differences along the years ), My car gets for eaxmple a bit of mix between 56s and 58s ( mostly 58s ). Along the years Mopars got more 56s than 58s ( 75/76 ). BUT ALL fit the same on same plugs.

56s are a bit upgrade from the 58s with the pressure tab/"tongue" which is a bit spring loaded getting better contact surface.

Later Chrysler changed the design and got their own system however sometimes you can connect a 56/58 into a Chrysler plug. Terminals don't interchange thought

My self once built engine harness and I think also forward lighting harnes made with Chrysler system ( got a donor full harness setup from some 75/77 B body at a JY ) and they fit perfectly into my 74 Charger bulkhead
 
Does The Bulkhead Connectors Use 58’s on Pre 73 B-Bodys?

I Need To Add a Wire For My 4 Speed Reverse Light but Want To Make Sure The Firewall Side and Engine Side Bulkhead Connectors Go Together Without Any Interference

I use Packard 56 for everything other than the headlights which use a 59, I've never even heard of a 58 until I just read this thread. Not saying what is written isn't true but that in my research and everything I have bought/used has been 56 (again except for the headlight connections).

That said there are definitely differences in various brands of connectors specifically in the quality of construction, hardness, etc. I have used many of these and have rewired several cars and all of the bulk fittings I have dealt with (69 ply wagon, 70 Challenger, 73 Cuda, and now my 71 Charger have and do use Packard 56 connectors.
 
I pushed the lock tab back. If you have a bunch locked in on the bulkhead connector. Will it ever come off again?
