I’m looking for steel rims that I can paint original “Matador Red PP1” & where to buy them for a 68 RR stock width 8 3/4” sure grip. Wanting 15”X 8 that I can run my original dog dish caps on, inside cap measures about 8 5/8” . Is 4.5” back spacing what I need for maximum tire width clearance ?

Per the aftermarket wheel website that sells them, that's what they are offering for the 15x8. I would go with that. Are you going to run a 275/60/15 on the rear? They show a 15x7 with a 4" backspacing so 4.5" that is the right dimension for the 15x8. I run the 15x8 Magnum 500's with a 4.5" backspace on the rear of my 68 Charger with the tire size I mentioned above.

Yes 275/60 was my plan on the rear. It’s not a problem finding 15X8 rims, I just want to be sure my poverty cal will fit the rim. I called wheel vintiques yesterday & they do not have anything my cap will fit.

I run Wheel Vintiques OE black steel wheels 15x8 with 4.5 backspace, Coker Bias ply N50s. 8 3/4 rear and drum brakes.

Really? They make wheels that the damn center hubcaps don't fit? That sounds like either bullshit or the dumbest thing I've heard haha. (Not against you, talking on them) Why the hell would they make a wheel and go through all the trouble repoping it, and have it half assed and kinda ruin the whole basis of running a steel wheel for most with the poverty caps?

Did some research quick for you.....they are full of **** when they say they won't fit the poverty caps unless they are completely clueless. They offer the cap pictured below which is a center poverty cap for their 63 series wheel. This is the same setup that all the other poverty caps use to mount to the center of the wheel. SO someone there either is clueless or they are advertising false info. See below.....it says right in the wheel add that they accept the center caps for the poverty look. All those mopar center caps of that era are the same size in most cases. They all fit the center fingers on the inside of the wheel. Maybe post a pic of the caps you are trying to use? Are they Mopar caps?

Yea most all of those caps are the same I.D..... I'd be willing to bet he either used your number of 8 5/8" approximately while its actually 8.75", or he doesn't know what hes talking about. If you have these below, and those other caps fit, then yours will as well.

I give him both 8 5/8” & 8 3/4” he said nothing even close. Getting past that now, I knew you guys could guide me in the right direction. Thanks to all who responded so quickly, I really appreciate your Mopar support!

Very nice, I was lucky enough to find 4 of these in mint condition within 5 miles of home.
