Restored my non rally dash and added stock tach last week and went well. Tach, temp, fuel, all work good; however, as soon as I turn on the lights, the dash lights fuse blows immediately. Not even a light flicker. I’m getting Power obviously from the dimmer hence the blown fuse. I’m using a new aftermarket circuit board I’ve had for a year and works fine. Thoughts? Pinched wire? Too much voltage from dimmer switch?

Also, tach rests at 3,000 rpm when ignition is off, but operates normally. Is that typical? Connected to MSD ready to run dizzy.

What Tach is that you are using Sonny?

Not sure on the b-body but on my a-body the instruments are grounded to the dash via the screws that hold the gauge pod to the dash.
Poor connection at best.
I made a small harness that grounds each gauge and each bulb directly to a nut/bolt on the dash.

I think I have a crossed wire. Will check it tomorrow and post. Nothing else could explain why this is happening. A bad ground shouldn’t cause the LED to turn on when the lights are turned on while working correctly as a turn signal indicator.

Response was to op and dash lights fuse blowing.
