Mark Graveyard Caught

I now treat it like a JEOPARDY show. I'll take "AIR GRABBERS" for $300 please.....

(LoL) I still enjoy the show and it's worth watching to gain extra knowledge of things. I really enjoyed Will talking about the Panther Pink painting process without anyone "butting in". Dave Rea said "laters" to the show and got his own gig going per the article in MCG. With GYC's backup of over a (2 plus) year wait, that was great timing for him to leave. Royal ain't around as much? Maybe he left with Dave? Hmmmm…. As for the war vet selling that Bee for only $5,500.00 I felt sorry for him but that was "his call". Mark told him he could sell it for more on E-Bay, but he's an elderly guy and probally didn't want to deal with that. NADA lists that particular car for $13K LOW, $31,K AVG and $53K HIGH...… If it was geographically close to me, I would have offered near the LOW price and what do you think he's going sell it for is anyone's guess but business is business. If a real good bodyman made a jig to fit thru the doors and figure a way to hydraulically pressure that roof back to where it needed to be and then go from there to save it B4 cutting the roof off, THAT would be interesting! The front windshield wasn't even cracked or it's mouldings. Mark was harping about having to blend all the paint together....BIG DEAL! Paint the whole car !!!! OK,, I'm done....

Lol with all the above, hit the body shop yesterday and he said another guy stopped by and just couldn’t stop about “original owner Bee”. Made me feel good.

Additional compensation was a GYC jacket. Seller worked that into the deal at the end.

I thought $5500 was okay for that car, it hasn’t run in a long time and needs a complete roof from a donor.

@YY1 - the comment about ‘send out for mud’ was not outsourcing, not sure if that’s what you were referring too. They have a separate building for mud work to keep the mess out of the main shop.

Was talking to Larry the upholstery guy, he also dose Daves cars and said he is busy. GYC not so much.

I am well versed on the current market value of 1971 B body parts, and that Super bee is worth 10 to 15 grand in parts all day long. Especially being a 4 speed car. I personally would fix it and drive it if it were mine. I put a roof on my 73 Charger, it wasn't a big deal to fix. This car would require some inner roof structure repair, but if it were braced properly it would not be difficult to repair. I would put a vynal top on it and preserve the rest of the original paint.

Having the equipment and the skilled labor in house makes buying that kind of a project a somewhat easy decision.

...and he made a big deal about blending paint.
Pretty sure just about any decent body shop blends paint every day.

Too bad our Brand has to have Worman making those stupid faces and playing to the camera. Hard to watch. It’s all about him.

I like Will, George, and Dave (when he was on the show). It is hard to watch now, and Mark demands so much camera time that there is not as much "learning" as much as pointing out things that I don;t care as much about. Dave leaving certainly impacted the show and my interest.

IDK, I think they have taken another turn for the better.
I also miss Dave, but they are at least trying to show some real work.
The metal work guy was a good addition to the show IMO.

I agree George getting camera time and detailing more of the bodywork is good but he has been there for the last few seasons (just not much camera time). But there is a large amount of effort that is in each episode to get Cousin Dougie on camera and that typically means Mark is with him making jokes, doing mark stuff. Plus... I think it is silly that he still has two people with him as he decodes a fender tag writing things down... We got it Mark you know 99% of the codes...

Also found it interesting that- "sent out for mud work" was said, and that they farm out the dash and cluster to Instrument specialties.

The guy welding in the trunk floor violated a thin panel rule by "stitch welding" adjacent welds rather than moving a few feet to reduce heat.

But I did like that segment as it was another actual build/repair segment and not "we didn't have time to show you this and this and this and this....but here's some more drama and now "the reveal".

LOOKED TO ME LIKE HE JUMPED AROUND A LOT STITCH WELDING !
