Senior needs advice, replacing Jacobs ignition of unknown year with new MSD Plug 'n Pay distributor. Moved Jacobs unit from inner fenderwell to front radiator support to clear place for MSD relay and coil. Issue is...MSD distributor comes with 2 sets of springs. Heavy as received( longer full advance?) and lighter ( quicker full advance?) Just for street use, cruise nights, what is the recommendation? Also a select few bushings. Should I mess with them or leave as out of the box? Will include new MSD wires, etc.

Also, to connect AutoGauge tach, wire coming out of distributor...Also plug 'n play to tach?

Thanks in advance. Ted[/ATTACH

What is relay for?? You will have to play with bushings to determine when total advance comes in. If Hemi total should be no more than 32. Wedge 34

the bushings reduce the number of centrifugal advance degrees in the distributor. the springs start the advance sooner or later depending on what your needs are.

Thank you.
As for the relay, it was either a way for MSD to capitalize on selling another part or they felt it would add (?) to the overall system. In any case I installed it as per the plug'play instructions just to keep them happy. ( see attached diagram )/ And thanks for the lesson on the bushings. much appreciated.
