I wanted to clean out the header bolt holes, they had RTV in them. I bought a little Dremel wire brush and had at it. Well the brush part with a small clip broke off way inside, maybe in the water jacket! I tried everything to get it out, even a little dental tool, but it was to far in. Since it was a cheap wire brush do you think it will rust away or am I in real trouble? Its way past where the bolt ends so I can still bolt it up. Whats your thoughts! Its a 1969 RR with a 383.

Did you try a magnet?

Hmm I just checked it again with my tiny camera and I see no evidence of it, its either in the water jacket or the vac did work? If the vac didn't work what will happen?

Well, if it is in the water jacket and you're worried it will start to corrode, create a clog or make it's way to the water pump and jam the impeller, you can always flush the whole system. do it into a big tub and see if you can find the wire brush.

Oh wonderful! This car has been a headache since I got it and I havn't even got it on the road yet.

How would I flush it? Take the top hose off and fill it up with water and let it run?

How about a hemostat

This kind of stuff happens to all of us, it’s just part of the journey.

Yah, you need to get that out.. probably even with a magnetic it wouldn’t come out as the bristles on the attachment will get hung up on the threads. Get a magnet, a strong one, and try

The problem is getting a small enough one to fit in a 9/16 hole. I think if there were any loose ones the vac got them. I can still put the bolt in all the way. I checked with my camers before I did that though, nothing was there.

Well, I know that speaking from experience here, you are hoping for someone to say it’s okay, forget about it. Well it might just be okay, but no one can make that guarantee for you. It likely won’t move around in the water jacket enough to make it to the water pump, but it could potentially restrict flow creating localized hot spots depending on where it decides to make its final resting spot.
The bottom line is that it’s not great, and you need to make some decisions as to how much it bothers you. Ultimately the best thing is get it out for piece of mind. It might mean raking the top end appart but at least after you’re done you’d rest easy. Maybe it’s a good time to try that cam you’ve always wanted which would warrant taking it apart anyway?
Best of luck in your decisions and the outcome!

Yeah, I think your right.... I need to make a decision on what to do. I think its in the water jacket. I never took off a head before, so not sure how to do that. I'm thinking about trying the flushing idea.
