Neutral Safety Switch and Harness

Finally received my 1967 Belvedere Wagon and found that the Neutral Safety Switch is not connected. The harness was in the glove box so that is a start. The Service Manual shows the switch location on the transmission but doesn't indicate where the other end connects. I have not crawled underneath to have a look yet as I as I've been busy lubricating doors, changing cap, rotor, plugs, oil and filter. I bought a Back Up Switch from Rock in anticipation of consumable items but it is a 2 contact whereas the correct one appears to be a 3 prong one. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The switch at the transmission makes a ground (DC-)
The other end goes to a terminal on the starter relay for Coil (-)
You will likely find this terminal (coil -) at the relay with a jumper to a mounting screw.
And yes I thought they originally had a single terminal in 67, it's possible you have a newer trans or newer neutral safety switch.
 
Here goes: 1967 nss has one terminal, and the wire goes to the ground terminal on the starter relay. 1969 and up has a three terminal switch which is a nss and a back up light switch. Manual trans cars have a two terminal switch which is a back up light switch only. The back up light switch on pre 69 auto cars is on the shifter linkage. It is different for floor or column shift.

Thanks for the input guys. I crawled underneath and found the NSS...it is definitely a 3 prong but may be a "transplant" transmission as the engine is supposedly a 1970 383 (haven't confirmed casting number yet). The only number I found is on the bottom of the transmission was 727-B as the headers are in the way to see much else. There doesn't appear to be any place for the other end of the harness to plug into on the firewall. Again, any assistance is greatly appreciated.
 
There won't be. You need to connect the wire from the center pin to the starter relay and ignore the the other two. The ground terminal on the relay is the bottom terminal on the drivers side. If the car starts now then that terminal must have a jumper to ground, or you have a manual trans relay, which won't have that terminal.
 
The other two wires are for the backup lights on 69 and up. Your 67 is wired differently, and the back up switch is mounted on the shifter( floor) or the steering column, if a column shift.
 
Once again I'm surprised how Canadians are smarter than they look...:canada:
