hello all.
I’m looking for some B3 base.
I’m using SPI primers and clear, and I can’t find anyone who can mix B3.
I have an old PPG number (2018) and no one can cross it. Not even PPG.

Anyone have any experience with this color and what did you use?

Thanks

Did you try Axalta Chromobase/Nason?

Hard to believe a good PPG shop cant mix it. There was someone on here awhile back doing a car in the original B3, but I dont remember who. Have you tried the search feature?

I agree.
I’ve had several local jobbers say the old deltron number doesn’t cross over to anything in DBC.
Also, had a body shop friend talk to his rep and got the same answer.

Maybe take a color chip of B3 and match it to a modern blue that looks the same. It's tough when they can't cross reference ****.

I just had B7 mixed at a local Axalta shop...

I was curious how they matched that B7 formula myself. Usually they tell me they can't cross reference it at all. You got lucky I guess.

Update:
I was able to have it mixed in DuPont chromabase.

535.00 a gallon plus 110 a gallon for the basemaker.

Gives me 2 gallons sprayable for around 700 with the tax.

Sometimes I’ll have a test sample mixed and the high-end stuff if they can match it and then spray it out and have the camera match done on that so I can buy it in the cheaper base. That’s if I’m not trying to match something on the car.

Yes, no cross in the DuPont lines either.
I’ve used chromabase and I’d be fine with that, if they could mix it.

at least with the Dupont line there Cameras can take good photos and cross reference to a formula.. where as PPGs cameras are so out of whack.. they are not very good..

This is a problem I think I saw a thread on the SPI group where PPG no longer has that formula. Call Chad Sperry and see what he can do for you. He is a SPI dealer and I bought Motobase B1 for the daughter Duster. GREAT paint but you need to talk to him about how to use it with SPI. There is also a thread by me on the SPI site on what NOT to do

All SPI other than the Motobase B1

I called Chad. He can’t do anything with Chrysler B3 blue.

Dang, I am kind of glad I don't have a car in B3 with the lack of paint available. I like that color on a B-body too.

Take a look at 7:50 of this video. My car is in the process of being prepped for B3 and my painter bought the paint already. His phone number is at the beginning of the video if you want to talk to him, his name is Shannon.
