Is a 1969 RR windshield glued in or put in another way? I'm trying to get mine replaced and the glass guy asked me that question, I didn't know. I thought all windshields were glued in?

It has a rubber gasket/seal

Gasket around windshield and the gasket goes around the pinchweld. Rope style install.. Most modern glass guys wont attempt it. They only know glue in place.

The windshield uses a full wrap, rubber windshield gasket set in place with some 3M #08509 Auto Bedding and Glazing Compound.

Listen to Threewood, mine was professionally installed 3 times and leaked:BangHead:. Last time I did it myself using the bedding compound and finally got it sealed. The beading compound is primarily for the cowl area where there's only tabs and no pinch weld. Do your research and get someone who knows how to do these cars.

Thanks guys! I don't think he will touch it then, that's why he asked. I can't find anyone who will do it. I may have to go to Orlando to have it done, who knows!

Hopefully someone in your area can point you in the right direction. It can be done yourself if you are willing to try. I did mine by myself and many here have done their own as well.

I also added the compound to the groove the glass sits in, all the way around the gasket before I locked it in place. Before I did that, it would fog up. No leaks at all, even driving in rain.

Hmmm that would be a big undertaking by me because I know nothing about how to do it. It would probably leak all over the place! lol

Like anything.. you don't know until you TRY! Reply 615 is the start and then 620 shows the butyl to use.. jumps to 624, 625 and then onto the next two pages or so. I worked solo. If I had of had some helping hands I probably would have swung the glass up into the top and sides of the rubber seal and then worked the bottom of the rubber seal into place on the glass. That is how it was done on the assembly line.. and probably why the rubber is not locked to a pinch weld at the bottom!

Thanks, that's some good info! I'm talking to a guy now who is going to look at it, he may do it if I help him.

There must be a resto shop in your area ... ask them who does theirs. Or maybe they do their own and will do yours.

The only ones I know of are corvette shops. I need someone to come to my house.

I just used liquid butyl in a caulking tube for that, seamed easier to use.
