Over time you will see the NOS parts dry up,and once the decent reproduction parts go out of production, you will see sellers asking rediculous prices for those parts too.
yup
good orig sheet metal parts are mostly dried up already
go find me a mint set of doors for a B body
or a really nice 69 coronet fender.
there are next to none out there anymore
Carlisle is a wasteland, you will find it there but its mostly rusted out junk
I walk there every year and I see less and less good stuff worth buying.
to the point its almost not even worth going if that is what you are after
you might find it out west but around here good luck!
I've been collecting nos/nice oem parts since the 80's and I know
I paid pennies on the dollar for a lot of stuff.
almost makes me hesitate to even use some of it as
I could sell, buy repo and put a shitload of money in my pocket.
I know I couldn't find half the stuff I have today even with a unlimited check book.
the thing is the hobby is not really about the money to me
taking something that was driven hard and put away wet and getting thrown away and bringing it back to life
is what i'm into
but like was said above
the parts I have will go with the car, if I build it or not.
that is why I bought them in the first place
and that is who holds the possession of those parts as long as I own them.
and I have the most rusty project you ever saw, rotted to the bones
to a driver that has been on the road since the 80's
